Disclaimer
PlainVoucher makes the Section 8 / Housing Choice Voucher program legible using public HUD data. Please read how to use this information responsibly before acting on it.
Informational Only — Not Professional Advice
PlainVoucher is for general informational purposes only. Nothing on this site is legal, financial, or housing-counseling advice. Section 8 eligibility, income calculations, voucher portability, payment standards, waitlist preferences, and appeal rights depend on current federal regulations and the policies of your local Public Housing Authority (PHA). For guidance on your specific situation, contact your local PHA, a HUD-approved housing counselor, or a qualified attorney.
Not Affiliated With HUD or Any PHA
PlainVoucher is an independent publication. We are not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Section 8 program, or any local Public Housing Authority. We do not process voucher applications, manage waitlists, or determine eligibility. All program decisions are made by local PHAs using HUD rules in effect at the time of your application.
Data Reflects HUD Release Cycles
Figures on PlainVoucher reflect the most recent HUD source files we have processed, with the reference year shown on every data page. Payment standards and Fair Market Rents are HUD's policy benchmarks (PHAs may set payment standards between 90% and 110% of the published FMR), not a quote for any specific unit. Source data may contain errors, may be outdated, or may not reflect current PHA policy. Always confirm current figures and requirements directly with your PHA and at HUD.gov before signing a lease or making a housing decision.
